Calculation Methodology
PeptideMathLab calculators use standard mathematical relationships between mass, concentration and liquid volume.
The user supplies the relevant values, and the calculator performs the conversion.
Concentration
When a total substance amount and liquid volume are known, concentration is determined from their mathematical relationship.
PeptideMathLab may display concentration in:
mg/mL
and
mcg/mL
Because:
1 mg = 1,000 mcg
the same concentration can be represented using either unit.
Liquid Volume
When concentration and a user-entered target amount are known, PeptideMathLab can calculate the corresponding liquid volume.
The calculator does not determine what the target amount should be.
U-100 Syringe Conversion
For a U-100 syringe scale:
1 mL = 100 units
Therefore:
0.1 mL = 10 units
and:
0.5 mL = 50 units
Syringe units describe liquid volume. They do not represent a fixed peptide amount unless concentration is also known.
Reverse Calculations
Reverse calculations work from a chosen mathematical syringe-unit relationship to determine the liquid volume required to create that relationship.
These results represent mathematics only and should not be interpreted as recommended preparation instructions.
Precision and Rounding
PeptideMathLab performs calculations using greater internal precision than may be shown visually.
Displayed results may be rounded to make them easier to read.
Users should always verify source values and measurement units before relying on a calculation.
User Responsibility
A calculator result is only as accurate as the information entered.
Incorrect vial amounts, liquid volumes, units or other inputs can produce incorrect results.
